Napier is proud of having 180km of off-road bicycle trails. We covered 48.77km of those on rented bikes on our third day in town. (Originally the plan was to trade in two of the single bikes for a tandem, but after 3 minutes of trying it, we converted to the conventional wheels)!
The ride was a bit much for those of us who have not trained or exercised lately, and/or for those recovering from knee surgery, but the beauty of the route (ocean, river, orchards, vineyards, horses, cows, remote control airplane fields), the pub lunch at the halfway mark, and Rush Munro’s ice cream at the end kept us going.
We were working so hard, we forgot to take many pictures!
